Cloud Backscatter Discrimination Based on Changeable Detection Power

The small-scale close laser detection system cannot distinguish actual target from cloud interference because of serious cloud backscattering issue when operating in dense cloud and fog.In order to solve the problem,a cloud backscatter discrimination method based on changeable power was put forward in this paper.Through reducing the detector's transmitting power, the proposed method used the feature that whether the echo amplitude exceeding the threshold value after the power of actual target and cloud target had been changed to distinguish them, and then the cloud signals was further determined by the way of echo counting in signal processing.Experimental results showed that the proposed close laser detection system could well distinguish the hard target from cloud target within certain distance range.
