More uses for catalytic distillation

In this paper, we define catalytic distillation (CD) as a process in which a heterogeneously catalyzed chemical reaction and distillation of the products and reagents occur simultaneously within a distillation column. The heterogeneous catalyst acts as distillation packing as well as a catalyst for the reaction. This aspect distinguishes CD from reactive distillation, in which a homogeneous catalyst is used.
