Application of case based reasoning in plane geometry intelligent tutoring system

A Plane Geometry Intelligent Tutoring System is developed to solve the problem that the students in middle schools often lack high-quality and individuation tutoring tools. According to the questions offered by students, PGITS can provide the comprehensive and systematic solution with step-by-step guidance, analysis and detailed answers, etc. Using PGITS for a period of time, the students can improve their learning ability and summarizing ability. PGITS utilizes a hybrid reasoning method integrating case based reasoning and rule based reasoning. This paper focuses on the case based reasoning in PGITS, presents its case representation and case retrieval. The use of case based reasoning reduces the time of solving user's questions and improves the efficiency of the system.
