A novel H-shaped patch antenna

A novel H-shaped patch antenna suitable for wireless and satellite communications is presented. The new antenna has several advantages compared to conventional microstrip patch antennas such as smaller size, less number of modes, absence of harmonic resonance, and the provision of pure reactive impedances at its harmonics that can result in increased transmitter efficiency, The basic principles and design procedure are introduced. An antenna, operating at 4 GHz, is designed, fabricated and measured. The measured results show good agreement with those predicted.
