Realization of the INSPIRE Directive and metadata system in the Republic of Slovenia

My graduate thesis is focused on the development and establishment of the Slovenian infrastructure for spatial information based on the provisions of the INSPIRE Directive. Vision of the INSPIRE Directive is that all data, metadata and services of various providers gathered in accordance with the INSPIRE Directive and easily accessible by a common location - geoportal. In my thesis, I primarily focus on the establishment of a unified national metadata INSPIRE system, where individual Slovenian metadata providers will be responsible for arranging and completing metadata using the SIST EN ISO 19115 metadata standard, other regulations and implementing rules determined by INSPIRE Directive. I present the metadata system of The Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia and the ARSO geoportal of the Slovenian Environment Agency, and compare their development and compliance with the INSPIRE Directive. The graduate thesis is also presented metadata system that is being developed in Switzerland, which in comparison with the Slovenian is more advanced.
