Optical Fiber Transmission Of Packet Data Multiplexed With Digital Audio And Video Signals

This paper describes a compact system for transmitting digital NTSC TV signals using plastic optical fibers. In the system, up to 18 channels are used for packet data at a maximum speed of 1.764 Mbps and digital audio signals are inserted into the horizontal sync. The insertion of the digital audio signal and packet data into the horizontal sync of the digital NTSC TV signal keeps the transmission rate unchanged at 50 Mbps.
