Reconfigurable Antenna For Automotive Radar System

This paper presents a reconfigurable antenna for automotive radar with smaller size and longer detecting range. The size is reduced by reusing antenna for different work patterns. The detecting range is increased by more output power added at antenna. The work patterns are transferred by switches on chip. The proposed antenna is based on planar microstrip array which can be easily realized by using transmission line model. When radar works at near-range, middle-range and long-range patterns, the reconfigurable antenna can provide maximum gain 17.4 dBi, 19 dBi and 23 dBi correspondingly.
