A consistent procedure for the estimation of properties associated to lumped systems

Abstract A new method is proposed for the estimation of physical properties of pseudocomponents generated by any lumping procedure. The method is completely consistent with the equation of state to be used for description of the thermodynamic behaviour of the lumped system. This method tends to minimize the loss of information induced by component lumping. Applied to complex fluids, it has been proved to be very effective. For illustration purposes, some results are given for a light oil system.
