Two sets of new type high Tc superconducting antennas have been designed and fabricated. When compared with the corresponding copper antennas under liquid nitrogen temperature, the 'U' type superconducting dipole antenna made from Y-based material obtained a 3 dB relative gain enhancement (RGE) at the frequency of 740 MHz and a 7 dB RGE at 5.8 GHz for the Bi-based superconducting microstrip patch antenna was achieved and reported for the first time, which indicated that the newly discovered high Tc superconducting materials do have great potential in improving the performance of the conventional metal antennas.
