Taking the MG900/2210-WD alternating current electrical haulage shearer as an example to study the key technologies of real-time graphics rendering and accelerating for three-dimensional virtual reality(3DVR) digital information platform of shearer.An improved algorithm for 3D real-time level of detail rendering of shearer based on half-collapse was proposed.The selection strategy of collapsing edge and erroneous measurement were established.The time and space overhead needed to calculate the new vertex was saved because the selected edge was collapsed into one of its two vertices,which was unnecessary to recalculate the position of a new vertex after edge collapsing.The results show that the demands of real-time graphics rendering for 3DVR digital information platform of shearer are met well.An efficient and lossless coding with multi-resolution was realized.When the simplification percentage of a model established in a HP Workstation Z800 reaches 65%,the time required to generate is reduced by 46%.
