Analysis of Metamaterial Unit Cells Based on Grounded Patch

In this paper unit cells based on the square grounded patch resonator are employed in microstrip configurations. Influence of geometrical parameters on performances is analyzed and compared with similar configurations which use split-ring resonators. Guidelines for stop-band filter design are given through analysis of proposed unit cells on different substrates. As it is represented, unit cell based on the ground patch shows better potential for design of wide stopband filters then SRR.
