Image Reconstruction Of A Compact Object From A Few Number Of Projections

Image reconstruction in X ray tomography consists in determining an object f(x; y) from its projections p(r;). In many applications such as non destructif testing, we know that f(x; y) has a constant value inside a region and another constant value outside that region. The image reconstruction problem becomes then the determination of the shape of that region. In this communication we model the object by a polygonal disc and propose a new method for the estimation of the coordinates of its corners directly from a very limited number of its projections.
