Magnetic loss in soft ferrites

In order to understand the anomalous magnetic field dependence of the high frequency (200kHz–1.0MHz) losses, we consider the high field conductivity of the soft ferrites. We show that the high field conductivity is highly nonlinear. Separately, we show that this nonlinear behavior is due to tunneling between adjacent ferrite grains. In this paper we show that this tunneling based nonlinear conductivity gives rise to a different eddy current loss, which can explain the anomalous magnetic field dependence of the measured high frequency loss.
