A TR069 WAN management protocol for WIA-PA Wireless sensor Networks

With the rapid development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) based on Internet Protocol (IP) and its related technologies, there are increasing urgent needs of remote management on WSNs from Wide Area Networks (WANs). However, actual management applications lack standards and effective management protocols. Technical Report 069 (TR069) is a customer premise equipment management protocol for WANs developed by the Broadband Forum, which has the ability to manage the Internet terminals effectively. The Wireless Networks for Industrial Automation-Process Automation (WIA-PA) is the typical of WSNs standards which has become an international standard for Industrial Wireless Networks approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Taking WIA-PA network as an example, this work attends to extend the management range of TR069 protocol to WSNs, thus the unified device management between the Internet and WSNs can be realized. Since WSNs are resource-limited, traditional TR069 protocol cannot be applied to WSNs directly. In view of this, a TR069 management protocol for WSNs is proposed in this paper to apply TR069 management protocol to WSNs practicably and achieve the unified management of device integration and communication from the Internet to WSNs.
