ACCURACY OF VISUAL INSPECTION TO EVALUATE PAVEMENT SURFACE CONDITIONS

Visual inspection to evaluate pavement surface conditions is employed for guideline of full check project notified by ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Almost all local governments employ not the visual inspection but high cost conventional method, because there were few case studies using visual inspection. Walking inspection and travelling vehicle inspection are proposed for the visual inspection in this study, both are executed on the pavements which surface condition have been measured by road surface measuring device and accuracy of the visual inspection is discussed. Rate of correct answers in the walking inspection was about 80% for crack and rut, 60% for roughness and it improved in accordance with inspector's accumulated experiences. In travelling inspection, the rate of correct answers was about 60% for crack and rut, 70% for roughness. As inspector's experience enlarges, that for crack increased in severe cracking sections. 国土交通省による総点検実施要領(案)【舗装編】では,舗装路面の点検方法として従来の路面性状測定車による方法に加え目視点検が導入されたが,目視点検を採用した事例や研究が乏しいため,ほとんどの自治体ではコストの高い従来の点検方法を採用している.本研究では,目視点検として,歩きながら点検する歩行点検と走行車両から点検する走行点検の2方法を考え,路面性状値が既知の舗装において両点検を実施し,その精度について検討した.歩行点検の正解率はひび割れとわだち掘れが約80%,縦断凹凸は約60%であり,点検経験を積むと正解率が向上した.走行点検ではひび割れとわだち掘れが約60%,縦断凹凸は約70%であり,経験を積むとひび割れでの損傷レベルが大きい箇所で正解率が上昇することが分かった.
