ADSORPTION AIR-CONDITIONING FOR CONTAINERSHIPS AND VEHICLES : FINAL REPORT

In this report, the authors examine the vapor compression air- conditioning system which makes use of an adsorption compression that replaces a conventional mechanical compressor. The bulk of the phase I work was to refurbish the system to safe operating condition and to evaluate its performance. The phase II experimental work will include a detailed characterization of the adsorption beds, the optimization of the operating temperatures, and a cycling algorithm. It is intended that the results from this effort will provide the basis for the design of improved sorption refrigeration system for automotive and space conditioning applications.
