EVALUATION OF LIQUEFACTION POTENTIAL OF SAND BY FUZZY INFORMATION ANALYSIS

This paper evaluates the liquefaction potential of sand by using a fundamental theory of fuzzy information analysis and a probabilistic analysis based on the simplified method suggested by Seed and Idriss. The basic dynamic characteristics of sand is considered for establishing the fuzzy relationship. The analytic evalution is compared and verified with methods of the advanced second order moment and Monte Carlo simulation. A conclusion is obtained that the fuzzy information analysis can provide an accurate and objective evaluation of liquefaction potential of sand.
