Evaluation of a commercially available fluorocarbon gas sensor for monitoring air pollutants

Abstract In order to use Figaro-type sensors in an array for environmental control, we have studied a fluorocarbon gas sensor, TGS832. Measurements with a constant gas flow have proven to be more reliable. The study of the sensor time response to R134A forane should be approached by a double exponential, thereby allowing the response measurement time to be reduced. The sensor responses to its target gas and to CO 2 used as an interfering gas show large differences which can be used to discriminate between the two gases.
