Link capacity allocation in ATM broadband communication networks

The performance analysis of link capacity allocation algorithms in ATM broadband networks is presented. Various link capacity allocation schemes are examined. Their performance in terms of service call blocking is evaluated. It is shown that the traditional complete sharing, and complete partitioning link allocation policies are not adequate for broadband environments. Movable boundary policies are more flexible and present a near optimal performance when fluctuating service demands are considered.<<ETX>>
