Decoupling bandwidths for networks: a decomposition approach to resource management

The authors consider buffer asymptotics for feed-forward networks shared by heterogeneous traffic streams. This is done by identifying the effective bandwidth of the departure processes from shared queues. They introduce the idea of decoupling bandwidths and constraints which guarantee "decoupled" asymptotics within the network. They discuss these results in the context of resource management for ATM networks.<<ETX>>
