Inverse Simulation Methods to Obtain Formation Temperatures in Wellbores

Abstract The performance of three inverse simulation methods to obtain formation temperatures (FTs) in wellbores is presented in this article. The inverse simulation methods are based on three solution schemes: nonlinear least-squares approach based on the Levenberg-Marquardt method, a feedback-based method, and a cognitive model. The first is an algorithm optimization and the other two are tracking algorithms. The simulations using data from an oil well show the performance to predict static formation temperatures (SFTs) with these inversion schemes.
