Deploying an LTE cell in an urban area: Planning and traffic performance analysis

As the evolution of the mobile communications reached the 4th generation (4G), the deployment of LTE networks was imminent. Considering that in Romania the LTE infrastructure is in development, this paper aims at providing useful insights regarding the LTE cell deployment by identifying key elements in the planning process and testing the performances of the provided services. Based on the results of the theoretical planning, the test scenarios are created and the network performances are evaluated using QualNet Developer 6.1 network simulator.
