Remote monitoring system basis on 3G for ships

Due to the low transmission speed,common wireless communication technologies such as GSM and GPRS could not be successfully used for river-going ship remote monitoring.This article proposes the use of 3G technology into the remote monitoring system of ship.Remote monitoring and fault diagnosis system based on 3G is introduced in this paper.Structure of marine TD-SCDMA wireless communication system is described,together with the transmission channel estimation,capacity calculation and software design.This technology could overcome the difficulty of signal transmission in the present wireless communication system based on GSM and GPRS and could also transfer multi-media information including pictures and sounds,which could be used to judge the working condition of machines on board ship and hence improve the accuracy of remote monitoring and failure diagnosis for river-going ships greatly.
