An Efficient Thinning Algorithm for Binary Images

Based on analyzing the edges of the objects in an image, an efficient thinning algorithm for binary images is proposed. Experiments prove that the skeletons of the objects produced by this algorithm have good symmetry, one pixel wide, and can completely preserve the connectedness of the original image.
