Holdup in fluid—solid two-phase flow: Part II: Experimental development

Abstract Experimental data on the expansion of a fluidized bed and the pneumatic and hydraulic conveying of solids were used to test the theoretically derived equation for holdup: V sF R F = C 0 V T + B The data gave values of the distribution coefficients C 0 and initial functions B which were shown to be realistic from theoretical considerations. The initial function B could be simplified for several practical cases and yielded values for hydraulic conveying data which were in agreement with theoretical predictions.
