Development of the power control system for the parallel operation of multiple diesel engine generators

Reliable electric power is no longer something we can take for granted. The news of catastrophic blackouts at California in 2002 was a good example of how disruptive power problems can be to the entire society, and how important a backup power generator can be to every individual. As a counter measure to this electrical interruption, the emergency engine generator is mainly used as an independent backup power source. However, the demands for more efficient, peak shaving, and co-generation system have increased the necessities for the general purpose, multi-functional power control system of the engine generator system. In this paper, we will see the feature of newly developed digital power control system for multiple engine generators including HMI (human machine interface) system.
