PURPOSE: An indoor position guiding system using a wireless access point (AP) and an acceleration sensor and a method thereof are provided to allow a user to be guided to a predetermined destination and to trace a current position of a user mobile terminal by receiving a signal strength of a wireless AP in the indoor of a building where a GPS is not transmitted. CONSTITUTION: Three or more wireless AP modules output wireless AP signals by being installed in the indoor. A user mobile terminal (120) calculates movement distances from a current position by measuring moving acceleration and supplies position information by measuring signal strength transmitted by a wireless AP module. The user mobile terminal includes an acceleration sensor (210), a wireless AP receiving module (220), and a navigation UI (230). The acceleration sensor measures moving acceleration of the user mobile terminal and calculates the movement distance. The wireless AP receiving module calculates the current position by measuring received signal strength indication (RSSI) from three or more wireless AP modules and calculating the distance with trilateration. The navigation UI guides a destination position based on the current position information of the user mobile terminal calculated by the wireless AP receiving module and the distance information of the acceleration sensor.
