Disturbance observer based cascade tilt-integral-derivative controller for frequency stabilization of hybrid power system

This study presents a control approach to regulate the participation of renewable energy resources (RERs) into the utility grid, and collaborate with a conventional thermal power plant for frequency regulation in order to affirm system stability. The control of frequency is realized by employing the cascade tilt-integral-derivative (CC-TID) controller. The settings of the proposed controller are explored by employing crow search algorithm. The results yielded by CC-TID controller are compared with the results of TID and cascade controllers. To improve the stability of the system, disturbance observer (DO) has been designed and housed with CC-TID controller. The results confirm that the developed DO efficiently track the fast-changing load profile, and yields better results compared to CC-TID controller.
