A survey on PROPHET based routing protocol in delay tolerant network

Delay tolerant network (DTN)allows to communicate with other networks where Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) routing protocols may fail. Store-carry-forward mechanism is used in DTN for connecting wired and wireless networks. Performance of routing in DTN depends on nodes' behavior. The presence of un-stationary nodes in wireless adhoc network make the communication between two networks challenging. The main purpose of DTN is to allow easy communication where MANET fails. DTN is suitable for all those networks where the delay is significant. However, DTN uses scare resources, but it provides an assured delivery in the terrestrial and heterogeneous environment. DTN can be applied to military purposes, wild zebra, rural communication, etc. This paper focuses on the literature survey of routing protocols which includes different variation in a probabilistic routing protocol using the history of encounter and transitivity (PROPHET).
