A Thyristor Controlled Static Phase-Shifter for AC Power Transmission

The paper outlines the importance of a fast, fully controllable phase - shifter for AC power systems. It proposes new designs, based-on power thyristor technology, analyzes them and proves their viability both by analytical and practical tests. A number of resulting problems are highlighted which need further investigation. In conclusion the paper shows that thyristor controlled phase-shifters may be the next major advance in power transmission technology.
