Mentale Modelle beim Erinnern sprachlich beschriebener räumlicher Anordnungen: Zur Interaktion von Gedächtnisschemata und Textrepräsentation

The study investigated how mental models contribute to the recognition of verbally described spatial arrangements. In three experiments with 18, 16 and 40 adults, the functional relationships between the representation of the verbal description (text base), the representation of the described spatial arrangement (mental model), and the recipient's schematic knowledge are explored. These experiments replicate and extend the studies by Mani and Johnson-Laird (1982). Their theory of the successive representation of a textbase and a mental model is critically tested and elaborated.
