Boundary-fitted coordinates for accurate numerical solution of multibody flow problems

Abstract A transformation is presented which maps an arbitrary two-dimensional region of connectivity N into N − 1 simply connected regions composed of rectangles. Uniform grids are used in the transformed regions to yield finite-difference meshes which are suitable for the accurate numerical solution of multibody flow problems. The utility of the transformation is verified with its application to the Weis-Fogh mechanism of lift generation.
