Algorithms and experimental results in ultra-wideband SAR imaging

In this paper, a time domain approach of SAR processings with Ultra-WideBand signals is presented. Usually a SAR is a narrow band system, but in our case transmitted signals are nanosecond short pulses. First, modelisations of this UWB radar are computed. The UWB Radar Cross Section is developped in this section. The measured signals can be processed by using different algorithms. We develop SAR image algorithms all based on coherent summation and matched filter, and an original method to calibrate the SAR images. These algorithms are tested with experimental data measured by an UWB prototype radar and we obtain 20 cm resolution results on a trihedral SAR image.
