Lamination Strength Requirements for Geonet Drainage Geocomposites

There is some question in the industry as to what is an appropriate lamination strength between the geotextile and geonet components of a drainage geocomposite. A recent slippage along this internal interface during soil placement on a 2:1 slope provided evidence that delamination of this interface is a potential issue. Drawing on information gained from this case history plus labora tory test data, this paper suggests a model whereby the lamination strength can be evaluated for slope and placement conditions, and provides guidance for writing geocomposite specifications.
