Multistage Modeling and Space Mapping for Automated Microwave Filter Design

In this paper, an efficient automated EM-level design framework for sequential-coupled resonator filters is proposed and implemented in Sonnet em and ANSYS HFSS EM simulator driven by Matlab. The proposed framework follows a multistage modeling and space mapping strategy. The space mapping is used to efficiently optimize physical dimensions of EM models. Sensitivity analysis is performed at the beginning of each stage to obtain an initial Jacobian. Two design demonstrations are performed in Sonnet em and HFSS EM simulator to validate the proposed design framework.
