Teching ethical concepts to medical students and psychiatric residents.

The young and disenchanted no longer stand in awe of past accomplishments; they are not in the mood to listen to their seniors about ethics. Moreover, "ethics" has sometimes been used not in the personal moral sense but to protect special interests. However, the author believes that scientific method and the democratic process are as valid an ethical concept now as ever; the older generation, while being careful not to speak from a "lofty platform of condescending superiority," should hold fast to this concept.
