Experimental-theoretical study of the stability of rods, compressed by follower forces

We determine the theoretical and experimental values of the critical follower loads for rods with constant and stepwise-variable sections. The utilized system of equations of the method of initial parameters in matrix form is obtained on the basis of the dynamic stability criterion. We describe in detail the construction and the principle of operation of two versions of a stand for creating the follower force system and compare the experimental and theoretical values of the critical follower forces.
