Overview of personalized Travel Recommendation Systems

The number of tourists worldwide has increased rapidly. The extensive amount of information that is accessible on the Internet provides tourists with a lot of choices. However it is a difficult task for the tourists to select the right tourism products or services based on their preferences and requirements. This paper attempts to review the published studies on Travel Recommendation System (TRSs) during 2008 to 2015. The paper emphasizes the use of previous and current Information Communication Technology (ICT), its applications, possible research trends and the challenges that arise in the development of a TRS.
