CHAPTER 3 – C

This chapter presents a list of built-in Mathematica objects starting with the alphabet C. It also discusses these objects and illustrates their uses. C[i] is the form in which the ith constant is given in the solution to a differential equation or system of differential equations when solving with DSolve. The indices begin with i = 1 and are successive. The default value is C. CallProcess [command, f, {xl, x2, …}] calls the function f in an external process using the arguments x1, x2,… . This command has been superseded by MathLink. Cancel [expression] cancels common factors from the numerator and the denominator of expression. Cases is used to match the elements of a list to a certain pattern. Catalan represents Catalan's constant that has the approximate numerical value of 0.915966. Catch [expression] returns the first value of Throw generated in the evaluation of expression. If no Throw is produced in the evaluation, then Catch [expression] returns the value of expression. Center is a setting used with ColumnForm and TableForm to specify the alignment i printforms. Character represents a single character in Read and is returned as a one-character string.
