Flexible Transmission Line Power Control in DC Distribution System

Abstract The DC distribution system is a promising technology for future distribution system to increase penetration of renewable energy resources, reduce power transmission losses, increase system reliability and flexibility. In this paper, the transmission line power control technology with DC/DC converter in series with transmission line is proposed and researched. The DC/DC converter topology, operation modes and control strategy are analyzed. With transmission line power control, the power flow flexibility of DC distribution can be improved. The simulation in SIMULINK is presented to validate the effectiveness of proposed transmission line power control.
