Dynamics of particles under pneumatic conveyance

Abstract In this report, an attempt has been made to develop analytically a general equation for velocity of particles from physical properties of the system when the particles are under pneumatic conveyance. In deriving the equation impact resistances, in addition to frictional resistances, have been taken into consideration. The expression thus developed has been verified with reference to the data obtained from the experiments conducted by the authors 1 and others. The general correlation is valid for a horizontal, vertical or inclined pneumatic conveyor or one incorporating all these features with bends, not only for steady-state condition but also for the acceleration zone.
