Machine Intelligence 2

paper, "POP-2 reference manual", gives a more formal definition of the language. The second paper has recently been published as part of the book, Machine Intelligence 2, and it is a pity that the errors in the original text have not been corrected. Instead a page of errata precedes this paper. The language has many novel features and owes much to Landin's work on Lambda functions. I t is in this area that the language is most original although it does include many of the facilities available in earlier list processing and symbol manipulating languages. The book is expensive. I would only recommend it to the reader specifically interested in the theory and design of programming languages.
