Open-circuited coaxial lines as standards for microwave measurements

A highly accurate electromagnetic characterisation of open-circuited coaxial lines terminating in a circular waveguide has been obtained with a view to the employment of such devices as calibration standards for microwave measurements. The theoretical results have been compared with the corresponding experimental data in the range 1 kHz~18 GHz for an open-line standard for common use. The agreement is very good.
