Model reduction of discrete event system

Abstract The ‘linear’ models of discrete event systems (DESs) developed by dioid algebra are very suitable for analysis of deterministic discrete event systems. But the dimension of state variable usually is pretty higher, so that the models become analytically intractable due to state space explosion, when the systems are quit large scale. This paper presents an approach of reducing the dimension of state variable of DESs, and then illustrates its application steps through some examples. Undoubtly model dimensional reduction is extremely significant for analysis of discrete event systems.
