A New Median Filtering Algorithm Based on Noise Detection

An iterative median filtering algorithm based on improved noise detection for the removal of impulse noises from the images is presented. The algorithm detects the corrupted pixels first and filters the corrupted pixels using the noise-free pixels.The noise detection strategy improves the Minmax technique.Simulation results demonstrate that this algorithm is superior to other existing median-based filtering algorithms,and is effective in noise suppression and detail preservation.
