This volume forms the background to the proceedings of the 3rd Symposium on Our Environment, organised by the Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore. It comprises the invited contributions on five member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Together, these country reports provide a broad-brushed review of the concerns, experiences and achievements in environmental management of the ASEAN countries over a period of a decade and a half. The areas addressed include reviews of the historical developments and relevant literature, legal provisions and administrative framework, environmental problems encountered and measures adopted, policies set, special developments/situations faced, political considerations, and regional cooperation.
