Application of imaging techniques and image analysis to concrete samples

This paper connects three practical experiments with focus on image processing and image analysis. Screening technologies offer a wide range of possibilities of measuring concrete composition and properties. However, every screening method needs to be interpreted with image processing or image analysis. Three examples are introduced in this study. One where computed tomography allows to create Voronoi-cell mesh for rigid body spring meso-scale model analysis with an aim to model exact propagation of cracks. Second where neutron radiography is used to capture water absorption process in cement in order to define sample properties and third, where high resolution camera is used to define Poisson's ratio of early age concrete sample where other measuring techniques fail.
