Selection of LED T8 over CFL T8 for an efficient interior lighting design

Like all light sources, LED based lighting system is a rapidly evolving technology used for lighting designing of buildings, roadways, subway, streetlight etc. to reduce energy consumption and also their efforts to reduce overall cost. New LED based (i.e. LED T8) lighting system is used in different places as replacement of other traditional lamp / tube for fixture with the light sources built in. Since, LED uses much less energy as compared to incandescent or florescent lamp or CFL, so LEDs are more advantageous for 24 hours lighting for residential and commercial uses. This paper presents comparative studies between LED T8 and CFL T8 and other traditional lighting systems. Using Lithonia Visual Software, a comparison between luminance and illumination of LED T8 with CFL T8 are presented. Moreover, the photometric tools of this software are useful for designing lighting of residential and commercial applications.
