Bandwidth Enhancement of Resonant Slot Array Antennas

A new method of increasing the bandwidth of resonant slot array antennas is presented. The proposed method, unlike the traditional one, does not use the matching condition to the waveguide; instead, a criterion is imposed so that the input impedance variation of the waveguide slot is minimized. The results show that the proposed method can enhance the bandwidth of the structure up to some 3 times in comparison to the traditional approach. Moreover the overall gain of the antenna within the frequency of operation is improved by the new method.
