Variation with the mass number of the oscillator spacing and of other quantities for a hyperon in hypernuclei.

It is shown that the oscillator spacing (h/2..pi..)..omega../sub ..lambda../ in hypernuclei may be given by an approximate closed-form analytic expression containing the dependence on the mass number of the core nucleus A to all orders of A/sup -1/3/. This expression, or preferably its leading terms c/sub 1/A/sup -1/3/-c/sub 2/A/sup -2/3/, can be used to estimate the lowest ..lambda..-excitation spacing. The region of its validity is discussed. The variation with A of the ground state kinetic and potential energy of the ..lambda.. and its rms radius are also examined.
